Aussie Domainers making money!

Fellow domainer Michael Gilmour was featured in The Age News Paper (Melbourne) with the hope of selling profgolfer.com for $75,000 with 10,000 domains to his name makes him in the TOP 100 of Domainers here in Australia.
.

“Enormous money can be made out of parking still in Australia with dot au space, where a lot less penetration has been made than in America,” he said. “It’s as easy as seeing how many times a particular word is indexed on Google then seeing if it is taken or not.”

“But it’s better than real estate because if I buy a house I can rent it … but the problem is you get tenants which are not always ideal. With a domain name I get a rental income called parking, I get capital appreciation on the value and I have no other costs except in the dot com $7.15 fee registration once a year.”

And another guy Dan Warner who has recently inked a deal with godaddy to sell domain names aftermarket through the godaddy sales channels.

Featured in Sydney Morning Herald.

According to Dan Warner, chief strategy officer at the parking and domain trading company Dark Blue Sea, this could boost the parking of dot au spaces.

The publicly listed company, based in Brisbane, boasts a portfolio of 550,000 domains through its subsidiary Fabulous, believed to be the second biggest holding in the world.

Last financial year it reported a profit of more than $3.5 million through advertising revenue and domain sales.

Mr Warner says the combined retail value of the company’s portfolio is a staggering $500 million. The company recently sold bedroomfurniture.com, which it parked since buying it for $40,000 a few years ago, for about $280,000.

Other domains the company holds are Manufacture.com, Doctorate.com and Publishing.net — all examples of names bound to draw a lot of traffic because they are so broad, Mr Warner said.

Proving that Australian are up there amongst the world leaders is domaining.
